Our mission in creating this brochure:
Plumsted
Township put on the upcoming election ballot a vote to increase
the township open space tax a penny per $100 of assessed value.
This amount, collectively, would allow the township to purchase
much more open space and preserve it indefinitely against development,
a goal of the Township Committee.
However,
no one wants their taxes to increase - not even a penny - and
the Township didn't think the voters would understand what even
a penny could do, so they hired us to explain the conservation
and preservation programs in the township and how the tax increase
would futher those goals.
The
brochure was text heavy, but we used "open space" photos
we shot in the township to underscore the message and visually
drove it home with the "open space penny" graphic. Not
only did we receive an award for this brochure but the vote passed
with 80% in favor!
